The Foster Creek facility is located in the Cold Lake region of northern Alberta.

The Foster Creek SAGD and Cogeneration project included the addition of an 80-megawatt cogeneration plant to provide additional power and steam to the steam-assisted gravity drainage facility.

In 2000, Husky Energy Inc was selected to provide full EPCM services, along with commissioning and start-up support services, for the cogeneration plant. The project included two gas turbine generator trains, each with a heat recovery steam generator.

Husky Energy Inc completed the project after over 200,000 hours worked without a lost-time injury. Upon completion, Husky Energy Inc received recognition from Encana (now Cenovus) for professional services, for completing the project on time and on budget, and for exemplifying the qualities associated with a successful project.
